Emergency services were called to a vehicle fire in a car park outside the Arlington Arms in Seaside in Eastbourne at 11.41pm on Sunday.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately, and two men were seen leaving the area.

Two fire engines and police officers attended the scene, with fire crews using a hose reel and main jet to extinguish the fire.

There were no reported casualties.

Fire crews left the scene by 12.37am and the incident was handed over to Sussex Police.

An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 11.41pm on December 8 to reports of a single vehicle fire on Seaside, Eastbourne.

“Two fire engines from Eastbourne were in attendance and crews used breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one main jet to extinguish the fire.

“There were no reports of any casualties. 

“Crews left the scene by 12.37am and the incident was handed over to Sussex Police.”

Police could be seen this morning investigating the scene.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: ”Officers attended the scene and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.

“This includes relevant CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage in the area.

“Information can be reported to Sussex Police online or via 101, quoting serial 1288 of 08/12.”
