The family of a missing man last seen on CCTV outside a McDonald’s say his disappearance is “out of character”.

Regan Phillips had been enjoying a night out with work colleagues in Rochester before he was captured on camera outside the fast-food restaurant in Commercial Road, Strood.

The 25-year-old was last seen at about 11.15pm on Friday walking towards the town’s high street.

He had messaged his neighbour to say he would be back at his home in Hoo shortly after midnight – but he never returned.

The warehouse operative’s mum Julie Phillips told KentOnline her son was “really excited” about going out with work friends to George Vaults in Rochester High Street that night.

“My daughter had a phone call from police on Saturday who said Regan’s neighbour had contacted them because he hadn’t been home,” she said.

“The police checked the flat and he wasn’t there.

“He went out on Friday night with his work and was last seen on CCTV outside McDonald’s in Commercial Road at about 11pm.

“He messaged his neighbour to say he was going to be home at about 12.10am.

“He has never gone missing before and has always told us where he is going.

“It is out of character as he wouldn’t leave his dog as he lives alone.

“He wasn’t upset about anything, has a new job and he is so happy with his work.”

Julie says the former Howard School pupil’s phone was last turned on between 10am and 11am yesterday morning but it is now turned off.

“He usually phones us almost every day when he is walking home from work,” the 54-year-old added.

“He is contacting his sisters constantly, so this is just not him.”

Regan’s worried family have been searching areas between Strood and Hoo this weekend as concerns grow for his welfare.

“Regan has four sisters and they have all been out to various places last night and today,” Julie said.

“They have been sharing on Facebook and phoning friends.

“My family has all grouped together.”

Police believe he was heading towards Hoo on Friday night.

Regan is white and about 5ft 7ins, with short brown hair and goatee-shaped stubble.

He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved, navy blue shirt, dark grey trousers and brown shoes.

A police spokesman said: “Officers are growing concerned for his welfare.”

Kent Search and Rescue volunteers have been assisting police. They said more than 30 of the team’s search technicians have been involved.

Anyone with information on Regan’s whereabouts should call 999 quoting reference 19-0911.
