Partick Housing Association (PHA) has officially launched the £10 million site at Bearsden Road in Anniesland.

It consists of a mix of one and two-bedroom flats as well as social rented and mid-market rent homes, aiming to boost the affordable homes market in the city. 

(Image: Mick McGurk)Members of Glasgow City Council visited the homes this week as the new development was officially handed over by contractors CCG (Scotland) to the housing association.

Councillor Kenny McLean, who is the convener for housing at Glasgow City Council, said: “It’s great to see this fantastic development reach completion.

“These social and mid-market-rent flats in Anniesland, will meet the needs of a range of people and bring new life to this site beside the canal.

“These are much-needed homes in this part of the city, and the council was delighted to support this development, which I’m sure will be a great place to live.”

“These wonderful new flats have transformed a vacant site and provided much-needed quality affordable homes in the West of Glasgow.”

Meanwhile, chief executive Stewart MacKenzie added: “Thanks to the Council, our funders, other partners and the community for their support at Bearsden Road. 

“These new homes will transform the lives of everyone who moves in.”

The development consists of two blocks of five-storey flats and includes resident parking, and outdoor amenity space complete with public art.

A new pedestrian and cycle path has been created next to the Forth and Clyde Canal.

CCG’s managing director, David Wylie, said: “CCG is delighted with the development at Bearsden Road.

“The complete project represents six years of hard work; from acquisition to concept, design and delivery, the process has been led by CCG in partnership with Partick Housing Association alongside MAST Architects.  

“It shows how collaboration and partnership working can unlock challenging sites to deliver much-needed affordable housing and the results speak for themselves as it is a great addition to this buoyant West End community.”
