At least 11 Sussex Police officers responded to an incident near Brighton beach yesterday evening. While most officers were arresting a man, an officer with a dog kept onlookers at bay.
The police were called to the city center following reports of a group carrying knives. The group was initially spotted near West Street before moving towards the seafront.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possessing a knuckle duster in public.
A Sussex Police spokesman stated: “Police received a report of a fight involving a group of people with knives near West Street, Brighton, shortly after 7 pm on Tuesday, July 30. Armed officers quickly responded to ensure public safety. A 23-year-old man was arrested for causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon (a knuckle duster) in public. The weapon was seized, and the suspect remains in police custody.”
