MicroBT, a leading innovator in Bitcoin mining technology, introduced its latest WhatsMiner M6XS+ series at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, TN. This new series includes models with air-cooling, hydro-cooling, and immersion-cooling options, marking significant progress in renewable mining technology.

Dr. Zuoxing Yang, founder and CEO of MicroBT, emphasized these innovations in his keynote address, underscoring the company’s dedication to sustainable and efficient mining practices. Dr. Yang projected that solar mining will play a pivotal role in the future, with the cost of solar power potentially dropping to around 4 cents USD per kWh by 2026, which he believes will overcome the main challenge facing solar mining.

MicroBT has made notable strides in solar mining technology, including a successful 100 kW pilot project. Dr. Yang also announced the upcoming WhatsMiner solar mining container system and urged industry partners to advance solar-powered mining.

The new WhatsMiner hydro-cooling models feature enhanced capabilities, such as high outlet water temperatures reaching up to 80℃ (176℉), facilitating versatile heat applications like agricultural heating, regional heating, and power grid balancing. This hydro-cooling technology aims to reduce cooling requirements and boost competitiveness in the renewable mining sector.

The latest WhatsMiner models introduced include:

  • WhatsMiner M60S+ (air-cooling): Hashrate of up to 210 TH/s with a power efficiency of 17 J/T.
  • WhatsMiner M63S+ (hydro-cooling): Hashrate of up to 450 TH/s with a power efficiency of 17 J/T and an outlet water temperature of up to 70℃ (158℉).
  • WhatsMiner M64 (hydro-cooling): Hashrate of up to 206 TH/s with a power efficiency of 19.9 J/T and an outlet water temperature of up to 80℃ (176℉).
  • WhatsMiner M66S+ (immersion-cooling): Hashrate of up to 318 TH/s with a power efficiency of 17 J/T.

Dr. Yang also previewed additional products and solutions slated for release in spring 2025.

After Dr. Yang’s keynote, Wright Wang, MicroBT’s Sales & Marketing Director, participated in a panel discussion with Ghazaleh Barman of Riot Platforms and Niek Beudeker from Peak Mining, a Northern Data Group subsidiary. The panel explored collaboration across manufacturing and mining, highlighting Riot’s large-scale immersion-cooling deployment and Northern Data’s upcoming hydro-cooling project, both primarily powered by WhatsMiner products.
