A yellow severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for all of the South of England and Wales, including all of Sussex.
Forecasters have warned of areas of heavy, possibly thundery rain which may cause flooding and disruption tonight and into Sunday.
There are fears the stormy conditions could cause power cuts or dangerous conditions on the roads – and the Met Office has issued safety advice to those who must go outdoors.

Meteorologists say that, if storms develop, 10mm of rain may fall in less than an hour – but some places may see more than 50mm.
A Met Office spokesman said: “These areas of heavy rain may become more persistent across western areas during Sunday daytime whilst slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop further east.”
There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings and where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, the Met Office added.
