“The new Prime Minister has pledged to integrate the Scottish Government into UK decision-making, offering them a significant role in shaping national policies through collaborative efforts.

“Our UK Government will make Scotland central to our initiatives,” Starmer asserted. “To the people of Scotland, I affirm our commitment to driving prosperity across the nation. We aim to rebuild Scotland’s strength as a leader in our national revitalization over the next decade.

“I extend the same partnership to the Scottish Government. By transforming disagreement into collaboration and providing genuine representation, we can enact transformative change for future generations.”

This announcement follows Starmer’s recent meeting with Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, where they discussed pressing issues and opportunities for joint action between the two administrations. Their dialogue began with a congratulatory call from Swinney to Starmer after Labour secured all six seats in Glasgow.

“I was delighted to speak with the Prime Minister on his first day in office and extend my congratulations to him and his family,” Swinney remarked. “I anticipate constructive discussions during his upcoming visit to Scotland, focusing on our shared priorities such as combating child poverty, promoting economic growth, advancing towards net zero emissions, and enhancing public services.

“I appreciate the Prime Minister’s commitment to fostering a positive relationship between our governments, and the Scottish Government is committed to collaborating effectively with the UK Government to build a stronger Scotland.”

Starmer plans to embark on a UK tour to meet with leaders of devolved administrations, marking an immediate shift in the UK Government’s approach to working with them.”
