Kent, dealing with multiple injuries, has brought in a batsman on loan to strengthen their squad for the coming weeks.

Essex right-hander Feroze Khushi will join Kent for their County Championship match against Hampshire on Sunday.

The 25-year-old is also set to play in three Vitality Blast fixtures, though he won’t be competing against Essex next month.

Kent’s director of cricket, Simon Cook, commented: “With nine of our first-team players unavailable, we’re pleased to have Feroze with us to provide more options at the top of the order while we wait for our regular batters to regain fitness.

“Zak Crawley has returned to the England camp ahead of their Test series with the West Indies and won’t be available for our remaining T20 South Group fixtures.

“On a positive note, we hope to have Jack Leaning fit soon, and Feroze’s addition gives us extra batting depth as we approach another busy part of our schedule.”

Khushi, who rose through the ranks at Essex, has played five County Championship games this season, including a match against Kent where he scored a duck and eight runs. He has also scored a century against Durham and a half-century against Lancashire.

Joe Denly (knee) is expected to be out for the next month due to injury.
