Sully’s, located in Fishersgate, is the brainchild of Ami Price, a mother of three, and her partner Graham Croucher, who have been together for three years.
They recently inaugurated the coffee shop in St Aubyns Crescent, aiming to create more flexibility in Ami’s schedule to accommodate her children’s needs.
The establishment is affectionately named after Graham, fondly known as ‘Sully’.
Ami, aged 33, shared, “Graham has always dreamed of owning a coffee shop, and I wanted to venture into self-employment due to our children’s special needs. He works as a coffee machine engineer for a company, and the location of the shop, near my mother’s place, just felt right. Everything fell into place seamlessly.”
Ami expressed a mix of emotions, ranging from excitement to nervousness and even a touch of fear. The opening is particularly sentimental for her as she grew up in Fishersgate, practically on the same street.
“We aimed to create something that would bring the Fishersgate community together, so we hope to establish a community-focused coffee shop,” Ami added.
The coffee shop, apart from serving a variety of coffees, teas, and beverages, also offers cakes and sweet treats, including options for gluten-free and vegan diets. These delectables are sourced from Tanya’s Tasty Cakes, a small business based in Worthing.
Speaking about the collaboration with Tanya’s Tasty Cakes, Ami mentioned, “We were recommended by a friend who saw her on Facebook. She provided us with a sample box, and the quality was exceptional. We resonated with her as we are both small businesses, sharing similar aspirations. She’s working towards opening her own bakery, and it’s heartwarming to support each other.”
The grand opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Fishersgate Flyers’ women’s football team, whom the coffee shop sponsors. Ami’s partner, a football enthusiast, connected with the team, appreciating their dedication to the sport.
Ami reflected, “As adults, we are all so engrossed in our lives, and I admire the fact that they dedicate time each week for football. They are a wonderful group of women.”
Operating from 7 am to 4 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 2 pm on Saturdays, the coffee shop also extends a Blue Light Discount to patrons.
