Police were called to the south side of the Dartford Crossing today (June 1) at around 1:40pm to reports of welfare concerns for someone on the Dartford Crossing.

National Highways advised drivers that lane one of four of the A282 south of the QE11 Bridge was closed due the incident.

The person was brought to safety by police with aid from members of the public.

Essex Police confirmed that they are currently under the care of medical professionals.

The bridge has since been fully reopened at 3:10pm, an hour after the incident was first reported by National Highways.

National Highways are advising that drivers should expect delays on the south approach of the Dartford Crossing of up to 45-minutes.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to concerns for someone on the Dartford Crossing at 1.40pm today (Saturday 1 June).

“They were brought to safety, with the assistance of members of the public, and has been left in the care of medical professionals.

“The bridge is fully re-opening.”
