Bromley, London – A significant fire broke out at a shop with flats located above it on Beckenham Lane in Bromley early this morning. Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters from Bromley, Beckenham, and Woodside were dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze.

The fire, which began at 12:19 am, destroyed a substantial amount of rubbish at the rear of the property and caused damage to the ground floor of the building. Fire crews managed to bring the situation under control by 1:29 am.

In a daring rescue operation, firefighters used an extension ladder to evacuate four individuals from a first-floor balcony, ensuring their safety amidst the blaze. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade provided further details, stating, “Four adults were led to safety by firefighters from the first-floor balcony, assisted by a short extension ladder. There were no injuries reported from the incident.”

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
