Tom Collinge says he will be a champion for residents and wants to protect the coast from sewage.

Mr Collinge grew up in Midhurst and is currently deputy director of Progressive Britain, a political organisation associated with the Labour party.

“It’s a real privilege to return to my roots in West Sussex and be the Labour candidate for Chichester,” he said.

“I worked previously in charities, the media, and policy research. I’m excited to be representing Labour as your candidate to bring about the real change that Keir Starmer’s mission-led agenda can have for places like Chichester.

“I’ll be a champion for Chichester’s residents, culture and economy, and work to protect our beautiful coast and countryside from sewage and the climate crisis.”

A YouGov poll earlier this year suggested current MP for Chichester Gillian Keegan, who is also education secretary, could lose her seat when the next general election is called with the Liberal Democrats expected to win the constituency for the first time since 1923.

Ms Keegan won in Chichester for the Conservatives at the last election with a majority of more than 21,000 votes.

Ms Keegan has yet to confirm whether she will run for re-election

Other hopefuls for the seat include Liberal Democrat candidate Jess Brown-Fuller and Reform UK candidate Ben Cooper.
