A pub has undergone a month-long revamp and reopened with “a modern twist” in the heart of a village.
The White Hart in Brasted, Sevenoaks, closed on January 15 to undergo a £500,000 refurbishment.
This includes new paintwork, two new open fireplaces in each dining area, new over-bar pendant lighting and new seating.
Its garden also now features new picnic benches illuminated by festoon lighting and umbrellas to provide shelter for outdoor seating.
These are alongside improvements to its Second World War themed interior.
During the Battle of Britain, pilots from Biggin Hill met for a well-earned pint at this boozer.
The White Hart has paid further tribute to the aviators with a blackout board bearing the signatures of its pilots who were regulars during the war.
General manager Daniel Husk believes the changes have made a huge difference to the eatery.
He explained: “There are no words to describe the excitement and joy the entire team feels for The White Hart’s amazing makeover.
“We can’t wait to welcome our guests back, serving them our brilliant dishes, delicious cocktails, refreshing beers and the very best wines.
“We’re certain visitors will enjoy the new look as much as we do.
“The site needed some TLC and some investment, and you can really feel that now.
“The history of the pub is a lot more entrenched now for everyone to see and paying tribute to that heritage is important.
“Reinvesting back into the village is important for locals and this is for them so they can have somewhere to relax and enjoy.”
Established in 1885, The White Hart is run by operator Mitchells & Butlers and features as one of its ‘Premium Country Pubs’.
The company says its menu, which has remained unchanged since the refurbishment, “features a variety of pub classics with a modern twist.”
It now adds “a visit to The White Hart promises to be an exciting social dining and drinking experience.”
One of the site’s recent visitors included KentOnline’s very-own Secret Drinker.
Speaking about their experience back in July, our anonymous reviewer noted: “As M&B pubs go, I have to say this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve visited and the garden in particular was impressive.”
The refurbishment was completed on February 14, ahead of its reopening three days later.
