The open-top service taking tourists around Beachy Head, Birling Gap and Eastbourne will now be run by Brighton and Hove Buses.

The company is expanding its portfolio of scenic routes with the acquisition of Eastbourne Sightseeing from Seven Sisters Bus and Coach.

Its staff will continue to be based at the Broyle Farm depot near Ringmer and form part of the wider Brighton and Hove Buses team with nine new buses added to the roster.

David Mulpeter, managing director of Seven Sisters Bus and Coach, said: “I’m delighted to see the Eastbourne Sightseeing service join Brighton and Hove Buses.

“We’re incredibly proud of the success of this open top route over the last few years and I have every confidence that the team at Brighton and Hove Buses will continue building and developing the service for the future”.

Brighton and Hove Buses hopes to use its experience and marketing to promote the service and build demand for Eastbourne Sightseeing tours, attracting more tourists and people living nearby to see the area from a new perspective.

The Eastbourne Sightseeing route starts on March 29 and runs throughout the summer season.

Tourists can hop on or off at 16 stops along the way, including Eastbourne Pier, Italian Gardens and Beachy Head.

Brighton and Hove Buses currently operates 222 buses across a network of 73 routes with 2,000 bus stops across East and West Sussex. The buses will stay in their green livery.
