School Lane in Horton Kirby, Dartford partially closed by Kent County Council (KCC) due to fly-tipping - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

A main road into a village has closed due to fly-tipping – and could remain shut for a week.

School Lane, in Horton Kirby, near Dartford, has been out of bounds between house number 82 and Three Gates Road since 6am yesterday (February 7).

The route has been sealed off to allow Kent County Council’s (KCC) highways team, which has declared the severity of the incident as “high,” to clear the dumped rubbish.

An image shows a large pile of earth and weeds left near a bend and blocking part of the country road.

The street could be shut for up to seven days to allow for investigation and clearance works by the council.

A diversion route is in place for vehicles via Lombard Street, Mussenden Lane, School Lane and Three Gates Road.

The same road was closed last year when KCC was again forced to remove rubbish.

The affected area is less than three miles away from Brands Hatch racing circuit.
