East Sussex fire crew pledge support to Armed Forces - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service signed the Armed Forces Covenant. Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker said it was a formal commitment to “supporting and understanding those that served in our Armed Forces.”

The Covenant was introduced to ensure that military personnel, veterans and their families are treated with fairness and respect in society, and recognised for their unique sacrifices and responsibilities.

The fire service has also pledged to promote the military through its website and provide employment support to the armed forces community.

It said that it would always consider recruiting people with an Armed Forces background as a result of their transferable skills from military service. It is encouraging young people from armed forces families to apply as fire cadets.
