Deans Place Hotel in Alfriston is now being run by hotel group The Signet Collection.

Previous owner Michael Clinch sold the 35-bedroom Grade II listed hotel so he could retire.

Colliers’ Hotels team facilitated the sale and described it as an “exciting new chapter” for the four star hotel.

Mr Clinch said: “The last 15 years have been an incredible journey. This hotel holds a special place in our hearts, filled with countless memories.

“We’re confident that The Signet Collection will not only preserve its legacy but also carry it forward with new vigour and purpose.”

Hector Ross, from The Signet Collection, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Deans Place Hotel into our portfolio.

“This historic property aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing our guests with a sense of fun and laid-back affordable luxury, the hotel gives us the opportunity to create an environment that pays tribute to the property’s history while creating a new and memorable experience for our guests.

“We look forward to relaunching the new Deans Place Hotel in December 2024.”

The Signet Collection own three other hotels: The Mitre in London, The Retreat in West Berkshire and The Barnsdale in Rutland, east of Leicester.

Deans Place Hotel was brought to market last summer with an asking price of £3.9 million. It has been sold for an undisclosed sum.

The takeover comes after hotelier Alex Polizzi bought The Star pub in 2019. The 15th century inn which is also in the village was completely refurbished including the bedrooms in the sixties block and the new outside courtyard.
