The electric gate engineers, known only as Josh and Wayne, were driving down Chitcombe Road, which connects Rye and Robertsbridge, on Tuesday when they were forced to stop at a police cordon.
Officers at the scene were waiting for engineers to turn up to clear the trees from the road when the lads hopped out of their van to offer some help.
They said they had a chainsaw in the back of their van and were able to clear the road hours before it was expected to reopen.

The pair got to work chopping and carrying the trees away amid high winds from Storm Henk.
Laura Denness was stuck in the traffic caused by the blocked trees. She took to social media to express her gratitude, saying: “Thanks to them I made it to work.”

But the duo’s kind gesture didn’t end there as their company Tate and Tonbridge Automation has since offered to clear trees free of charge for police in the area.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Their spontaneous act of kindness didn’t stop at the road. We’d like to thank these unsung heroes and the company they represent.”
