A grey-hooded person was caught on camera pulling the reindeer from the front garden of Park Avenue Care Home.

It is believed to have taken place at some point between 11.05pm on December 2 and 4.05am on December 3.

The footage begins showing the person walking through the care home car park into the front garden.

The person seems to bend over in front of the reindeer where they appear to be scrambling through some wires.

The lights of the reindeer switch off and the person is seen lifting the decoration onto its shoulders and then walking off.

Although the footage shows one reindeer, a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed two were taken.

Park Avenue Care Home wrote on Facebook that its Christmas display was to help create some festive cheer.

It said: “The focal point of our display, two light-up reindeer, were sadly taken from the home and have not been returned.

“These decorations were chosen by the people who live here to bring some festive cheer throughout the holidays, so having them stolen from us is very disheartening and has left people feeling upset not seeing them shining outside the home.

“Having raised smiles amongst local people at our light switch-on event last month, it’s saddened us all that someone felt entitled to take them from us.”

Police enquires are currently ongoing as all CCTV footage are being reviewed.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were contacted on Monday 4 December about the theft of two garden reindeers from a care home on Park Avenue, Bromley, BR1 4EW.

“The theft is believed to have taken place at some point between 23:05hrs on 2 December and 4:05hrs on 3 December.

“Police are currently reviewing CCTV and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 or post @MetCC ref CRIS 3326014/23.”
