An e-bike and e-scooter were seized in North Belfast after youths were seeing doing wheelies in the middle of a road.

Police officers on patrol in theNew Lodge, Antrim Road and Waterworks areas saw the youths riding an e-bike and e-scooter dangerously through the park and on a road before stopping them.

The PSNI have issued a warning about the dangerous and illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters saying that it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been conducting proactive patrols across the New Lodge, Antrim Road and Waterworks areas.

“During patrols, officers observed two youths riding an e-bike and an e-scooter dangerously on the road and through the park. Both riders were seen carrying out wheelies in the middle of the road, creating a significant risk to themselves and other road users.

“Both vehicles were stopped and dealt with by police. The two riders now face the criminal justice system.

“We continue to receive reports regarding the dangerous and illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters. Our message is clear, this behaviour is not harmless fun. It is only a matter of time before a child, pedestrian, cyclist or rider is seriously injured or killed.”
