Zendaya’s press tour for The Drama continues to deliver a range of fashion moments that reflect both versatility and intention. Styled by Law Roach, the actress has embraced a mix of couture craftsmanship, romantic silhouettes, and experimental textures, solidifying her place as one of fashion’s most consistent red carpet forces. For the Drama’s New York premiere, Zendaya stepped out in a striking blue Schiaparelli gown featuring a sculptural bodice and dramatic feathered detailing. The strapless silhouette hugged her frame before flaring into a voluminous skirt with textured movement, creating a visual impact that balanced structure with softness. Paired with statement…
Cash App, the peer-to-peer fintech app owned by Jack Dorsey’s Block, has launched a new “pay-over-time” deferred payment feature that allows eligible users to pay for their everyday transfers over an extended period of time. Companies have increasingly offered deferred payments for relatively mundane and everyday purchases. About a year ago, DoorDash partnered with Klarna — allowing users to “micro-finance” their food orders (the partnership notably inspired a flurry of online jokes about “burrito debt” and late capitalism). Cash App’s new feature clearly builds on this trend — expanding flexible financing into the P2P payment realm. To take advantage of…

Startups are often quick to say they value diversity but are slow to implement hiring practices that reflect that. It is the path of least resistance for a growth-stage company to hire from the familiar Silicon Valley pipelines, but if a founder wants a diverse team, that value has to be put into practice from the very first hire. Leah Solivan, the founder of Taskrabbit and founder and managing director of Precedent.VC, joined Isabelle Johannessen on Build Mode to discuss how she thought about hiring while leading Taskrabbit. As the company scaled from being bootstrapped on Solivan’s personal credit cards…
[NEW DELHI, SciDev.Net] It’s not often that microbes receive recognition for their contribution to human health and ecosystems. But in Kerala, India, the multiple benefits of Bacillus subtilis, from improving human and animal nutrition to sealing cracks in concrete and raising agriculture productivity, has led to it being accorded the status of “state microbe”. The initiative, which is the first of its kind in India, is intended to focus attention on the unrealised potential of microorganisms in resolving issues around sustainable health care, food security and environmental protection, as well as building climate-resilience. B. subtilis is a common microorganism which…
Commonwealth Fusion Systems said on Thursday it would sell high-temperature superconducting magnets to Realta Fusion, the second in a string of deals that suggests the company will lean heavily on its magnet technology in the coming years to bring in much-needed revenue. “It’s the largest deal of this kind to date for CFS,” Rick Needham, the company’s chief commercial officer, told reporters on a call. Commonwealth Fusion Systems, or CFS, previously sold magnets to the WHAM experiment at the University of Wisconsin, with which fusion startup Realta collaborates closely. The physics behind WHAM underpins Realta’s approach to fusion power, which…
Wages in the hospitality and retail industry have seen an “unprecedented” increase in the last year, according to new research conducted by employment operating platform Employment Hero. They found that pay in these two industries had risen by an eye-watering 18% in the last year, alongside a slowdown in hiring rates. One likely explanation behind the trend is this month’s National Minimum Wage and employer National Insurance contribution increases, for which businesses are already adjusting. It is these higher labour costs, as well as broader employment law changes, that are making businesses more hesitant to hire. Pay rises as April changes loomThe…
