Officers say they are aware of concerns about dirt bikes and quads being ridden on paths, parks, and roads around the Maryhill and Canal areas. These are said to be causing damage and real worry for residents. In an effort to combat the issue, local community cops, supported by divisional resources, are carrying out regular, dedicated patrols in ‘hotspots’. This is to identify those responsible and to provide reassurance to people who live, work, and spend time in these areas. Police say this kind of ‘antisocial and often illegal’ activity puts riders and members of the public at risk. Anyone…
It is believed another legal “call-in” on the matter is likelyStock image of Belfast City Hall(Image: Belfast Live)Sinn Féin has failed to block a proposal to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in Belfast, in an attempt to stop a DUP motion through obscure council committee processes. The Armed Forces Covenant saga at Belfast City Council was thought to have come to an end last June, when a DUP proposal fell on a knife edge vote, after spending months bouncing between committee and full council meetings, with a legal call-in added to the proceedings for good measure. But the proposal, which would sign…
For years, rural healthcare has sat at the centre of a quiet crisis – issues including ageing populations, staff shortages, underfunded clinics and long travel distances have created a system where access is often limited not by demand, but by geography and infrastructure. And in less developed countries and under-served communities, this problem is far more extreme and the gap between those who have and those who have no is far wider. Now, AI is being positioned as a potential turning point. From remote diagnostics and triage tools to automated admin and telehealth support, the promise is compelling – bring…

Amjad Masad has been building Replit for a decade, but the last 18 months have been something else entirely. The AI coding assistant company went from $2.8 million in revenue in all of 2024 to tracking toward what Masad describes as a billion-dollar annual run rate. At TechCrunch’s sold-out StrictlyVC event in San Francisco on Thursday night, we covered a lot of ground in a short time, beginning with the question everyone in the industry is asking right now: in a world where rival Cursor is reportedly in talks to be acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion, is Replit also…

“I was a fool who provided them free funding to create a startup,” Musk told the jury. He said when he cofounded OpenAI in 2015 with Altman and Brockman, he was donating to a nonprofit developing AI for the benefit of humanity, not to make the executives rich. “I gave them $38 million of essentially free funding, which they then used to create what would become an $800 billion company,” he said. Musk is asking the court to remove Altman and Brockman from their roles and to unwind the restructuring that allowed OpenAI to operate a for-profit subsidiary. The outcome…
