Diffuse gliomas are malignant brain tumors that cannot be optimally examined by means of conventional MRI imaging. So-called amino acid PET scans are better able to image the activity and spread of gliomas. Coronavirus cases were on the rise ahead of Christmas, with a 20 per cent increase in daily admissions recorded in the week up to December 22. The spike in cases follows the emergence of a new strain of the virus, the JN.1 strain, which experts have warned may be more transmissible than previous variants.
