Paul Mansfield, who represents Peverel ward on Adur District Council, stole a buggy worth £150 in Chichester on August 28 2022. At a trial at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, Mansfield, 60, of Avon Close in Sompting, pleaded not guilty to theft. He was found guilty and ordered to pay a total of £875, including a £161 fine, £150 in compensation and a £64 victim surcharge. The remainder, £500, would be paid to the Crown Prosecution Service to cover costs. Mansfield serves as the chairman of the council’s licensing committee. OpenTofu, the open source Terraform fork, has hit general availability (GA) some four months after launch. The eternal struggle between open source and proprietary software was laid bare on numerous occasions last year, perhaps most notably when HashiCorp switched popular “infrastructure as code” tool Terraform from a “copyleft” open source license to the source-available Business Source License (BSL). The acidity of Antarctica’s coastal waters could double by the end of the century, threatening whales, penguins and hundreds of other species that inhabit the Southern Ocean, according to new research from the Univeristy of Colorado Boulder. Scientists projected that by 2100, the upper 650 feet (200 meters) of the ocean — where much marine life resides — could see more than a 100% increase in acidity compared with 1990s levels.
