Chichester has earned a spot in Expedia’s Destinations of the Year 2027 list, making it the only UK location to appear in the global top ten.
The list is part of the travel platform’s Unpack ’27: The Trends in Travel report, which uses real search data to identify destinations seeing significant growth in traveller interest.
Chichester recorded a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in search activity, placing it alongside destinations in Japan, South Korea, Italy, Australia and the United States.

Councillor Adrian Moss, leader of Chichester District Council, said the council was “absolutely delighted” at the news.
“This recognition reflects everything that makes our area such a special place to visit and enjoy,” he said.
“From our rich history and heritage to our vibrant arts and culture scene, spectacular landscapes and stunning coastline, Chichester offers something for everyone.
“Whether you’re exploring our historic city centre, enjoying world-class theatre and cultural attractions, venturing into the South Downs National Park, or relaxing along our beautiful coastline, there are countless experiences waiting to be discovered.”
As part of a promotional partnership, Expedia has teamed up with YouTube star IShowSpeed, who will visit all ten destinations on the list, including Chichester, next year.
The influencer and online streamer is one of the internet’s biggest stars with over 100 million social media followers and more than 11 billion collective views.

Expedia identified Chichester’s historic character, proximity to the South Downs National Park, coastal attractions and surrounding countryside as key reasons for its rising popularity with travellers.
Cllr Moss also highlighted the recent launch of the Chichester Place Board, an initiative which aims to celebrate and promote the area’s strengths as a destination.
The recognition was a “powerful reminder of Chichester’s growing reputation as a world-class place to visit,” he said.
