Brendan Nicholas Daley of Glenure Road, Eltham, dumped large pieces of furniture from a rented van behind recycling banks on Plaistow Lane, Bromley, near Sundridge Park train station.
The incident, which took place on October 11, 2025, was captured on CCTV.
The furniture was left next to a sign clearly stating ‘no fly-tipping’ and warning that offenders would be prosecuted.
A council spokesperson said: “Prosecution remains a last resort, but it is simply not acceptable to dump furniture or other items at a recycling bank or anywhere else.
“Not only is it unsightly and can be dangerous, but it also deters others using the banks for their recycling.
“Residents are reminded that they can take unwanted items to the council’s Reuse and Recycling Centre in Beckenham, with the council also providing a collection service for those who prefer the convenience of direct collections.
“Businesses are also reminded that information about responsible disposal of waste is available on the council website.”
The recycling banks are intended for paper, glass bottles and jars, and clothing and not bulky waste.
Following an investigation, Mr Daley was identified as the van hirer and issued a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for the illegal depositing of waste on November 7.

After failing to pay the FPN, even after being given additional time, he was prosecuted.
He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on July 14, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was fined £825 and ordered to pay a £330 victim surcharge and £400 in prosecution costs, bringing the total to £1,555.
Bromley residents can dispose of bulky household waste at the Churchfields Road Reuse and Recycling Centre by booking an appointment or by using the weekend Reuse and Recycling Centre on Baths Road.
The council also offers a collection service for direct removals.
