In a statement, Sussex Police said emergency services were called to Station Approach, Hastings, at around 4pm on Wednesday, July 8.
A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are believed to be life-threatening.
A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and grievous bodily harm.
He remains in police custody.
The Argus understands that Hastings train station car park was closed as a result of the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
