From tonight ( July 6), a string of maintenance work will take place until the end of the weekend. The much needed crossing carries over 180,000 vehicles every day, with repair work set to take place overnight.
The Northbound tunnel will be shut for work from July 6 to July 11. On July 6, the tunnel will be closed from 9pm until 5.30am the following day. The same timings will apply on July 7, 8, and 9.
On July 10, the tunnel will be closed from 9.30pm until 5.30am the following day. On July 11, the tunnel will be closed from 10pm until 5.30am the following day. A diversion will be in place via the National Highways Network.

The entry slip road at Junction 1A will also be closed on July 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
On July 7, the Southbound carriageway from Junction 1A to Junction 2 will also be closed from 10pm until 5.30am the following day. This is for emergency carriageway repairs. A diversion will be in place via National Highways and the Local Authorities Network.
On July 12, the East Tunnel will be shut from 10.30pm until 5.30am the following day. This means there will be no access over the Dartford Crossing for vehicles over 4.8m.
