A 38-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man from Findon have been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
The arrests follow multiple reports of elderly and vulnerable victims being targeted in the Worthing area by a man and a woman who claim their vehicle has been hit.
They then take the victims’ details and provide a false quote for repairs, insisting they pay cash instead of submitting an insurance claim.
Both the woman and the man have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to police, or come forward if they have been a victim of the same scam.
Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 47260120921.
