The Nao Santa María, a replica of Christopher Columbus’ 1492 flagship that carried the explorer across the Atlantic, has docked at Shoreham Port, and will be open for public visits in the coming days.
From July 1 to July 12, people can explore the ship, experiencing life as it was in the 15th century.
The vessel’s arrival in Shoreham is part of its extensive 2026 European tour, which includes stops in dozens of locations.

Built in 2018, the 200-ton vessel was crafted by the Fundación Nao Victoria to mark the 525th Anniversary of the Encounter between Two Worlds.
Master shipwrights from Punta Umbría in Huelva, Spain, used iroko and pine wood, meticulously following historical records to ensure the ship mirrors the original 15th-century vessel.
The ship serves as a floating museum and a proud representative of the maritime, cultural, and tourist heritage Huelva.
During its stay, the ship will be available to visit between 10am and 8pm, inviting visitors of all ages.
Tours can be booked online, with on-site tickets available only if online tickets do not sell out.
Shoreham marks the second Sussex location on the vessel’s tour, with the ship having previously docked in Eastbourne from June 19 to June 28.
