Scottish Water announced that it was aware of fire hydrant misuse in the G45 postcode of the city shortly before 8pm on Friday.
Due to this, some homes in the area may be experiencing a loss of water supply.
The utility firm states that once the hydrants have been fully closed and are operating as intended, the supply will gradually return to normal.
Anyone experiencing brown or white water is asked to run their kitchen tap cold at a reduced pressure until the discolouration clears.
Residents are urged to avoid using other taps or appliances during this time.
The incident has prompted an urgent warning from Scottish Water over fire hydrant vandalism.
