East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 9.48am on June 26, in the Boreham Street area of Wartling and have since explained that the fire is affecting power lines.

The service said: “As of 10.15am, four fire engines, a water carrier, and officers are at the scene in the Boreham Street area of Wartling.
“It appears a bonfire has got out of control and is affecting a home.”
Residents were advised to avoid the area.
They added: “If you are local, please keep doors and windows closed until the smoke has cleared.
“As of 10.45, crews are continuing to use hose reel and main jets supported by the water carrier to put out the house fire.
“The fire has affected nearby power lines.”
