Actor and wrestler Grado, who plays fan-favourite character Alan in the BBC comedy, shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the cast’s first read-through on Instagram.

Posting a snap alongside his co-stars, he wrote: “First readthrough of Two Doors Down Live at the @ovohydro! The script’s a belter.  Roll on September and October!”

He tagged fellow cast members Joy McAvoy, Jamie Quinn, Elaine C Smith, Arabella Weir, Jonathan Watson, Kieran Hodgson, Alex Norton and Doon Mackichan.

The image has delighted fans eager for the return of the beloved comedy, which is set and filmed in Glasgow and has become one of Scotland’s most successful television exports.

The post comes as the cast prepare for their highly anticipated return to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro later this year.

The special live shows, scheduled for September and October, will see the residents of Latimer Crescent swap television screens for the stage once again, following the huge success of last year’s sold-out performances.

Grado’s post confirmed the read-through was for the upcoming Hydro production, teasing fans with the promise that “the script’s a belter” ahead of the run of live dates.

The stage shows are expected to reunite the beloved cast in front of thousands of fans, bringing the chaos, comedy and neighbourly antics of Two Doors Down to one of Scotland’s biggest venues

Last month, it was confirmed that Two Doors Down would be returning to Latimer Crescent for an eighth series following the success of its 2025 Christmas special.

The new series will air on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland, picking up where the festive episode left off.

Arabella Weir and Alex Norton are back as long-suffering couple Beth and Eric, who once again find their hopes for a peaceful life disrupted by their eccentric neighbours.

Jonathan Watson, Doon Mackichan and Elaine C Smith will reprise their roles as Colin, Cathy and Christine, while Joy McAvoy returns as Michelle, who is preparing for a new arrival.

Kieran Hodgson’s Gordon remains focused on his studies, while Alan and Ian, played by Grado and Jamie Quinn, continue doing their best to support their partners — often with mixed results.

Gregor Sharp, writer and co-creator of the show, said: “It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special.

“The cast are the most talented group of performers you could wish for and I can’t wait to get started.”

The return comes after the show’s hugely successful live stage debut at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro last Christmas.

Due to overwhelming demand, additional dates were added and the performances played to packed audiences, proving the sitcom’s popularity extends far beyond television screens.
