As of 9am this morning, June 24, a red weather warning for extreme heat has come into place across areas of Sussex.
The Met Office has warned the public of significant disruption to daily life and advised that people should take every effort to make precautions and adapt their daily routines where possible to cope with the levels of heat.
In parts of Sussex, temperatures today are expected to reach 37C, with this latest heatwave expected to surpass the record for June set in Hampshire in 1976.
