The donation, led by GoProvidence and the Rhode Island Sports Commission, follows the “unforgettable impact” Scottish supporters made in the city during the World Cup, where their energy and warmth left a lasting impression on residents and businesses alike.

Kristen Adamo, president and CEO of GoProvidence, said: “This is our small way of giving back to a group that gave so much to us.
“The Tartan Army reignited Rhode Islanders’ love for Providence.
“They brought joy, a sense of community, and a whole lot of bagpipes everywhere they went.
“We miss them terribly — and we hope this gesture shows just how grateful we are.”
The $5,000 donation from GoProvidence and the Rhode Island Sports Commission quickly inspired a wider fundraising effort.
Bars and restaurants across the city contributed an additional $5,500, bringing the total raised to $10,500.
Contributing venues included Hot Club, G Pub, Track 15, Trinity Brewhouse, Murphy’s, and Rollers.
The Tartan Army’s fans helped turn Providence into a temporary home base, filling streets and venues with songs and camaraderie while supporting their national team abroad.

Their enthusiasm even extended to the waterfront and ferries, where the sound of bagpipes echoed across the city.
Jonathan Walker, executive director of the Rhode Island Sports Commission, said: “Sports have a unique ability to build bridges, and the connection between Providence and the Tartan Army is proof of that.
“Their energy transformed our city.
“Supporting the Glasgow Children’s Hospital is the least we can do to honor the friendship they extended to us.”
The gesture of thanks was reciprocated by the Tartan Army while in Providence, as fans raised $10,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and $6,500 for the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band.
The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal also donated $5,000 to Project Goal, a youth soccer charity in the region.

The fundraising totals raised in Providence will go toward Glasgow Children’s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital in Scotland, and its mission to provide life-changing care and services to children and their families.
The organisation, along with the Rhode Island Sports Commission, aims to drive economic growth and vibrancy through tourism and sporting events, underlining the wider impact that visiting supporters can have on a city.
