Key Aspects:

  • Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled the brand-new Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club on Moreton Island in Australia.
  • 20 private cabanas are already available to pre-reserve at a cost of $399.99 AUD per cabana.
  • Each cabana has room for eight guests, and comes with luxurious perks like phone charging ports and cooling capabilities.

Carnival Cruise Line is bringing a taste of beachfront luxury to Australian cruisers for the first time ever with the Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club.

Carnival guests are now able to reserve one of 20 private cabanas on Moreton Island, Queensland, for sailings that embark on or after August 1, 2026.

“Carnival is proud to offer the first beachfront cabana club for cruise guests in Australia,” said Carnival’s Assistant Vice President Sales & Marketing Anton Loeb.

Each cabana will offer stunning views of the pristine Tangalooma Beach, which has won awards for its natural beauty.

This new Cabana Club adds an extra element of luxury to one of Australia’s most popular cruise destinations. According to the cruise line, Australians show the most demand for South Pacific sailings, followed by voyages to Moreton Island.

And with luxury comes a hefty price tag to match. Cruise Hive learned that it will cost $399.99 AUD (about $281 USD) to rent one of these limited cabanas.

What Do the Carnival Cabanas Include?

The new cabanas will have room for up to eight passengers, making them a great option for families or groups of friends to enjoy the island.

“The cabanas are perfect for families or groups of friends looking to spend a day relaxing in style on beautiful Moreton Island,” Loeb noted.

Aside from stunning views and a guaranteed, private spot to relax on the beach, the cabanas will also come with direct beach access and lockable storage to keep personal belongings safe while enjoying the ocean. Complimentary towels will also be provided.

Tangalooma Beach is famous for its wild dolphin hand-feeding program, as well as snorkeling and diving at the Tangalooma Wrecks, an impressive collection of 15 deliberately sunken ships that have been turned into a marine sanctuary.

Guests will also find an in-cabana fridge, adjustable shutters, and a fan to cool things off. Even in the winter, temperatures on the island can reach into the high 70s, and it’s easy to work up a sweat playing on the beach.

Additionally, charging ports will be installed to keep smartphones juiced up for all of the guests’ photography and videography desires.

Guests who are interested in pre-booking this experience can already do so online, or can try their luck at the shore excursions desk after setting sail.

Cruising to Moreton Island

Carnival Cruise Line is the only brand to operate in Australia during the winter (June to August) and to cruise to Moreton Island year-round.

This is partly because Carnival has a long-standing partnership with Tangalooma Island Resort, which offers exclusive access for cruise ships at the third-largest sand island in the world.

Carnival Adventure and Carnival Splendor, both of which are based in Sydney, Australia, will call at Moreton Island nine times before the end of the year.

Most of the sailings are 4-night getaway cruises, but each ship will operate one 9-night voyage that includes Moreton Island, Airlie Beach, Cairns, and Willis Island.

The 108,865-gross ton Carnival Adventure will operate this limited itinerary first in August, followed by Carnival Splendor in September.
