Berkeley Homes is seeking hybrid planning permission for a phased scheme on land off Hayes Lane and the A21 Bromley Common which would deliver new homes alongside retail, community space and public open areas.
The proposals relate to the wider Hayes Farm site in Bromley and the developer is seeking full planning permission for the first phase of the project.
This includes the construction of homes, retail and community uses, as well as public open space and landscaping.
The initial phase would also involve the demolition of existing structures, site clearance, improvements to public rights of way, and access and highway works, alongside associated enabling works.
In addition, the application seeks outline planning permission for later phases of the development, with all detailed matters reserved for future approval.
These longer-term proposals include further housing, a residence for children in care, and a mix of commercial, social, healthcare and community uses.
Plans also allow for car and cycle parking, additional open space, and further infrastructure and access works across the site.
The submission comes after months of public concern over the development, with campaigners raising concerns about the loss of green space, increased pressure on roads and services, and the overall environmental impact.
Opponents have staged demonstrations and called for the land to be protected, arguing that large-scale development would significantly alter the character of the area.
However, Berkeley Homes has previously said the scheme could deliver much-needed housing alongside new community facilities, open space and infrastructure improvements for the area.
A decision on the application will be made by Bromley Council following consultation and assessment.
