On Saturday, June 13, anti-immigration group South East Patriots are planning to host a march through Brighton city centre.
In response, a counter protest ‘Carnival Against Fascism’ has also been organised.
More than 20 anti-racist groups will be taking part, including Brighton and Hove Stand Up to Racism, Brighton AntiFascists and Brighton Antiraids, having come together “ensure a united resistance”.
Both groups are expected to meet at Brighton station, where organisers of Carnival Against Fascism say they plan to “turn the far-right away”.
South East Patriots said the protest will be calling for stronger border control, enforcement of immigration laws and the deportation of illegal immigrants.

The group have announced several speakers for Saturday’s march, including Ukip leader Nick Tenconi; Siobhan Whyte, mother of Rhiannon Whyte, who was murdered by an asylum seeker; and co-founder of Raise the Colours, Ryan Bridge.
Organisers of Carnival Against Fascism have spoken out against the group’s views and called for people to join their counter-protest.
A spokesperson for Carnival Against Fascism said: “We want the day to be a carnival of creativity, a day where everyone feels welcome and it’s a joy to take part.
“We will stand firm in the face of hate and show once again that Brighton & Hove is proudly anti-racist.”

In 2024, similar anti-immigration and counter protests were planned to be held in the city.
The protests came after the Southport stabbings, where three young girls were killed, and triggered scenes of riots and violence across the country.
Shops across Brighton boarded up their windows, shut early and events were cancelled in preparation.
However, counter-protesters massively outnumbered anti-immigration protesters and the evening progressed into a party atmosphere.
