Jeremy Benson KC for the Crown told the jury: “Mr Devlin had got to his feet and found himself surrounded by this group.
“Seconds later, Priddle, who had been standing very close to Mr Devlin, stepped back quickly and then moved towards him, jabbing an arm in his direction.
“He then lunged towards Mr Devlin with such force that his body was thrust against the glass window causing it visibly to wobble.
“At this point Mr Devlin can be seen to reach into his left jacket pocket.
“This is consistent with what he told the police later that evening – that he had taken out his keys and used them to get these people away from him.
“Priddle then threw a carton of food at Mr Devlin.
“This caused Mr Devlin to react – he lashed out with his left hand, holding his keys, towards an area which is obscured from the camera’s view by a pillar.
“The footage shows that Niraj Amaidas was standing there, or thereabouts.
“Mr Devlin is seen lunging towards Priddle who moves away from him in the direction of Burger King.
“The Burger King footage then shows the three men – Cameron Devlin, Priddle and Amaidas – coming into view as they move away from Itsu along North Street.
“They fell to the ground, with Mr Devlin falling over Oliver Priddle.
“Priddle immediately got up and both he and Amaidas kicked Mr Devlin to the head, whilst he remained on the floor.
“Amaidas then kicked him again to the head.
“Whilst concerned members of the public attended to Mr Devlin, Amaidas ran off and so too did Priddle leave the scene.”
