Gillingham are likely to come up against their former striker Elliott Nevitt next season.
Nevitt, 29, was released by the Gills at the end of the season and has now signed a two-year deal with Oldham Athletic.

Nevitt struggled to find his scoring form during his time at Gillingham, having previously helped Crewe Alexandra to a promotion challenge in League Two.
The hard-working forward finished the season out on loan, and won promotion with Cambridge United, coming off the bench in 15 of his 16 appearances for the U’s without scoring, as they took third spot in the division.
Nevitt was released by the Gills after just six league goals in 58 appearances over his two year stay – not the only front-man to struggle to find the net in recent seasons for goal-shy Gillingham.
He’ll be hoping a new club can revive his goalscoring form.
Nevitt scored three goals for the Gills in the 2025/26 season, an equalising goal in a 1-1 draw against Cheltenham, another in the FA Cup at Newport and his final one in Gillingham colours in 3-3 draw at Shrewsbury.
In his first season for the Gills he managed five goals, including the winner at Notts County early on in his Priestfield stint.
Nevitt links back up with his former Tranmere boss Micky Mellon at Boundary Park, the man who gave him a chance in the EFL after a prolific non-league career.
Nevitt said: “He gave me the chance to be a professional and made me the man I am today.
Mellon added: “He’s a hard-working, industrious striker who gives you absolutely everything for the team.
“His energy, commitment and attitude are exactly the type of qualities we want in this squad and I know the supporters will appreciate the way he goes about his work.”
