A person has been rescued from the water in Belfast during an early morning incident on Thursday.
The Community Rescue Service were called to respond to a “multi-agency incident” at the River Lagan after reports that a person in distress had entered the river.
PSNI, Belfast Harbour Police, NIFRS and NIAS were also tasked to the scene on May 28, and the person was rescued from the water.
A spokesperson for the Community Rescue Service in Belfast said: “In the early hours of this morning, our volunteers were tasked by the PSNI for an immediate boat launch to a person in distress and had entered the River Lagan.
“Quickly on scene along with Police Service of Northern Ireland, Belfast Harbour Police, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service & Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, working in conjunction with City Centre CCTV, the person in distress was extracted from the River, brought to a place of safety and into the care of NIAS.
“Our volunteers were able to head back to base for a quick cup of coffee before heading onto their day job.
