Ford Road, adjacent to Nelson Row in Ford, near Arundel was closed yesterday (May 23) following a crash involving a car and two motorcycles.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Sadly, the rider of one of the motorcycles, a 55-year-old woman from Bognor Regis, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.

“The rider of a second motorcycle, a 57-year-old man from Bognor, also sustained injuries.

“The driver of a white Mini, a 60-year-old man from Angmering, was not injured.”

Now the force has confirmed that a 70-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision and have now subsequently identified and located a white VolksWagen Polo which is believed to have been involved in the events leading to the collision.

“A 70-year-old man from Yapton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.”
