The news comes after plans were lodged to knock the gym down to create 391 homes for rent on the land.
A petition against the project amassed over 2,000 signatures as gym members warned that the closure would have a ‘devastating’ impact on the community.
However, the plans – which were lodged by real estate firm Redevco – were approved.
It comes as Nuffield Health’s lease for the site is set to expire this November. Landowners Redevco said there were no plans for this to be renewed, but later suggested it was “open to having discussions” with the community about retaining gym use until construction works were ready to start.

In an email shared with the Glasgow Times, it reads: “We’re sorry to share the news that the club will be closing permanently. We know how much this space means to our members and truly appreciate the community that’s been built here.
“While we explored every possible option to continue operating, the landlord has made the decision to redevelop the site. As a result, we’re unfortunately unable to remain open.”
The statement continued: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of our Glasgow West End community. Your support, enthusiasm, and trust in Nuffield Health have been greatly appreciated by our team, and it has been a privilege to support your health and wellbeing journey.”

Those signed up to the West End gym will continue to have full access to the facilities, classes, and training sessions as normal until the closing date.
Meanwhile, gym goers will also have access to the newly upgraded Nuffield Health Glasgow Central Fitness and Wellbeing Club, which is located nearby, or can transfer their membership to Glasgow Central which features the likes of a new recovery zone, renewed premium shower and changing facilities.
