Hastings Borough Council has approved plans for a bleed kit and defibrillator cabinets on the front of Nationwide in London Road.
As part of its application, a spokesman for the building society set out how the move comes as part of a national campaign intended to improve access to the equipment.
The spokesman said: “Nationwide Building Society is committed to supporting the communities they serve, with branches located at the centre of high streets across the UK.
“As part of this commitment to community wellbeing, they aim to ensure people have rapid, 24/7 access to vital emergency equipment whenever it is needed.
“As such, they plan to install external defibrillators and bleed control kits across all Nationwide branches. Each piece of equipment will be housed in its own dedicated, secure external cabinet.”
In a statement, the council’s conservation officer said: “The relatively small-scale lifesaving equipment would not present any additional obstruction to the public pavement, they would be accessible in an emergency, and they would have a neutral effect on the character and appearance of the building and the wider setting.”
