A man was taken to hospital after being punched in a town centre attack.
Police and paramedics attended a disturbance in Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone at 3.50am yesterday (May 10).
During the incident, it is alleged that a man hit another man and left the scene on foot before officers arrived.
An eyewitness, who does not wish to be named, was woken by the sound of arguing, shouting and swearing in Gabriel’s Hill in the middle of the night.
He saw a large group of people who appeared to have been dressed for a night out, arguing with another group of three men dressed in black tracksuits.
The witness heard someone say “leave us alone” and “f*** off” before the three men were seen walking off, while the other group carried on their way.
But then he saw a “shorter, stockier” man turn back and stick a “full-on Mike Tyson” on the victim.
The eyewitness described the incident as “unbelievable” as he says the victim was punched before falling to the ground, followed by the sound of a crack.
The concerned witness phoned an ambulance immediately, and he claims the man remained unconscious on the floor for at least 10 minutes, surrounded by blood, while bystanders put him in the recovery position before the emergency services sped to the scene.
Police attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.
A man and a teenager were later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have since been released on bail, pending further inquiries.
An investigation is now underway to establish the full circumstances.
