Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that works will take place on Stoney Road from Monday, May 18
A new £350,000 resurfacing scheme has been announced for a Belfast road that could cause some disruption near an NI hospital.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that works will take place on Stoney Road from Monday, May 18, which will include essential resurfacing works along the road, from the rear entrance of Ulster Hospital to the entrance of Stormont Estate.
A full road closure will be in place from May 18 to June 19 while the work is carried out and a diversion route will be in place via the Upper Newtownards Road.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said: “This is a substantial investment for the Dundonald area which will deliver significant benefits for local businesses, residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities.
“I recognise that there will be some disruption while these essential works are carried out and I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience and cooperation during this period.”
The Department has said it has carefully planned the works and traffic management arrangements to minimise disruption as far as possible. However, while access for residents, businesses and the hospital will be maintained where practicable, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time for their journeys and to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
