An image shared with the Glasgow Times shows a white van with significant front-end damage and a police vehicle at the scene on Provanmill Road.
The picture was taken at around 3.40 pm on Tuesday, May 5.
A concerned resident told the Glasgow Times that the new layout is “dangerous” given “the vast amount of traffic and the width they have made it,” and highlighted concerns about a bus stop being placed “on a tight bend” on a route used by transport vehicles, fuel, and car carriers.
They added that, with the road also expected to carry prison-related traffic in the future, they “fear a lot more accidents or near misses in the future” and hope their concerns will be taken into account.
A post on the Carntyne and Riddrie Information Facebook page alongside the image read: “Crash at the ‘new improved’ road layout on Provanmill Road. Road was closed – now reopen. Was only a matter of time that these ‘new’ works caused an accident. Hope all involved are ok.”
Another person commented: “Can barely fit two cars down its a disgrace lead to a main road that is so busy in morning that people need to access for work doctors and emergency services x.”
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
