James Huxted pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position whilst working as a support worker for an individual in Bexley last August.
Huxted, 41, from Dartford, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday (March 24).
Judge Charlotte Welsh described it as an “extremely serious offence” which “clearly passes the custody threshold”.
But the judge asked the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report, which will assess whether the sentence can be suspended.
Judge Welsh also asked the Crown to make further enquiries into the impact of the financial loss on the victim.
Huxted was released on unconditional bail until he is sentenced in May.
