Matt King, best known for his role as Super Hans in Peep Show, revealed the health scare was caused by a spinal cord stroke.
The 58-year-old, who lives in the Brighton and Hove area, shared the news on social media. The actor was treated at The Royal Sussex hospital in Brighton.
Mr King said: “It’s true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was initially paralysed but was rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing.”
He explained that he has since regained some movement, though his recovery is still ongoing.
He said: “Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didn’t feel f***ing brilliant.
“Thank you for all the love and kindness.”

A spinal cord stroke stops blood flow to the spinal cord, usually due to either a blocked or ruptured blood vessel.
They are extremely rare, accounting for less than one per cent of all strokes, but can result in long-term disability or death.

Mr King is also known as a DJ and comedian.
He has performed in comedy sketch shows and DJ sets across the UK, sometimes appearing in character as Super Hans.
He starred alongside David Mitchell and Robert Webb in Peep Show, where his eccentric character quickly became a cult favourite.
Fans often quote his offbeat lines and remember him as Jeremy Usbourne’s unpredictable friend.
The Channel 4 sitcom also starred Olivia Colman as Sophie Chapman, Isy Suttie as Dobby, and Sophie Winkleman as Big Suze.
Created by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, the show ran for 12 years before ending in 2015.
Mr King’s career spans a wide range of television roles.
He appeared in the comedy series Look Around You and played Cook’s father in the third season of Skins.
