Man charged following Brighton Regency Square death - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates


Emergency services responded to reports of a fight taking place inside a property in Regency Square at around 2.10 am on Sunday, April 26.

Inside, two men were found with stab injuries.

One of the men, in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

The second man, aged 37, and now formally identified as Tio Day, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short while later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Sussex Police said.

Police attended a nearby hotel following reports of a man entering the reception and exhibiting concerning behaviour.

A cordon was in place outside Moon’s Lodge in Regency Square the following morning.

Daniel Bassett, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.

On Tuesday, April 28, he was charged with murder and attempted murder.

Bassett has been remanded to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 29.
